Blues singer Bill Dowey is the real deal. He's got the voice, the
feel, the experience, the life. Bill Dowey has got the blues.
A powerful and heartfelt voice, a searing slide guitar tone, and
a tour bus full of experience makes Bill Dowey one of the most convincing
and dedicated blues artists in Canada.
From humble beginnings in the basement of a downtown Toronto church
where he discovered an old out of tune piano to backing some of
the greatest names in blues Dowey has developed a masterful touch
and a well earned place in blues lineage.
In addition to fronting popular Calgary blues outfit The Hoodoo
Sons for 5 years and now leading his band the Blues Devils, Dowey
has practically made a career of backing great blues legends. Performing
and touring with names as illustrious as Albert Collins, Fenton
Robinson, Sonny Rhodes, Lowell Fulson, Roy Gaines, and Canada's
own Dutch Mason, to name only a few, has provided Dowey with a straight
up shot of blues school and an encyclopedic collection of road stories.
Bill Dowey has filled opening slots for a list including Jethro
Tull, John Hammond, the Neville Brothers, Buddy Guy, Jeff Healey
and Colin James. Dowey has performed at the Calgary Folk Music Festival,
the Lethbridge Blues Festival and was recently included as part
of the Calgary Centre for Performing Arts Acoustic Blues Series.
Living in Calgary Alberta Canada, Bill Dowey continues his now
decade long tenure as leader of the King Edward Hotel house band,
The Blues Devils (including Brad Carter,Curtis Cripps and Paul Finn)
hosting jams and backing visiting artists. With legions of fans
and supporters throughout western Canada Dowey recently released
his long awaited first CD.
