Unfortunately cancer is a problem in the flat-coated retriever breed. Occasionally it strikes when the dogs are young. We experienced this personally when we lost Gambol to lymphoma when she was only two years old. Gambol was a lovely, energetic female. She finished her championship at just 11 months old and loved to work in obedience and retrieve bumpers and birds.

To find out more about cancer and the flat-coated retriever, check out the health manual on the FCRSA website.

The Flat-Coated Retriever Foundation has been set up to fund research into cancer in the breed.
