Piper is our best hunting buddy! He has tremendous drive for retrieving work - so much drive that as novice trainers, we found him difficult to work with at times. However by the time he was 3, he had settled down a bit and Andy and Piper finally became a solid hunting team. Piper is a fearless retriever who happily retrieves dead and wounded waterfowl under all kinds of extreme weather conditions (Andy hunts up until Christmas Eve!). Piper passed his WC and WCI on his first tries. He has a Junior Hunter leg and someday we must get around to finishing that title. We are training towards his WCX. Piper also loves to work in obedience. He has won a High in Trial and was the #3 flat-coated retriever in obedience in Canada in 2001. Always keen to learn something new, Piper has taken up scent hurdle racing and gained 30 points towards his SHD title at his first race.
