Determined, enthusiastic and affectionate are words that describe Tally to a "T". She is also known as the "Tallygator" (a reference to the way she eats her food and her ability to carry many items at once).

Visiting with people, of all ages, is one of her favourite things to do. She especially loves children and will pull us towards them when she sees them, just for an opportunity to meet them. Men with beards also get her going. She has a very cute way of expressing her affection - snuggling up to people with her eyes completely closed and the corners of her mouth curled up in a submissive smile. We are quite sure she knows exactly how irresistable that makes her look!

Outside, Tally tends to do everything at great speed and with massive amounts of enthusiasm. She is a very fast dog and likes to canter past the other dogs, with a cheeky, catch-me-if-you-can look on her face. Huxley falls for it every time.

Tally is one of those dogs who needs to be carrying something in her mouth at all times. It can get rather annoying. When we let her out the back door, she lines up a toy nearby - ready to grab it and run as soon as you open the door. Taking that toy away before opening the door doesn't work, as she usually has a back-up toy or two ready, not too far away... On walks she picks the largest, heaviest stick ("log" would be a better description) to carry around. She occasionally drops it, but before you know it, she's gone right back and gotten it again. Needless to say, we have to be careful about where we store our firewood, or it gets spread all over the prairie.

Being the Toy Queen of our household, Tally is very skilled in the art of carrying two or more toys at the same time. Once she was found with THREE kongs in her mouth!  Well, how else is she supposed to keep them all for herself?

Tally has discovered her "inner coyote" and we sometimes catch her howling along with the neighbourhood coyotes. Who knows what she is really saying....but perhaps she's telling them to keep away from her toys!
