For folks
prone to kidney stone formation (renal calculi formation) there is some
useful information.
Most of these calculi (stones) are mineral salts and most of these salts
contain, in some form or another, calcium. Therefore excess calcium
in the urine (hypercalciuria) can indicate a risk of forming kidney
stones (not to mention the possibility of bone density loss). Studies
by Grases et.al. showed a reduction of kidney stone formation after
taking as little as 130 mg of inositol hexaphosphate (IP6) orally daily.
Where do we find good sources of IP6? Rice bran. Not a most appetizing
dish although enhanced considerably with apple sauce. But you would
have to take a truckload daily to get a therapeutic dose of IP6. Answer:
IP6 in capsules or in powder. Set up an appointment with Doctor Lofting
to discuss this exciting potential to avoid the worry of kidney stone
formation.
