Lorena Back in Intensive Care

January 21, 2008

Hi All.

Were to begin to explain only a little of our day and emotions today.

Lorena has taken a turn for the worse and was rushed back to intensive care.

All ready this morning when we came in at 10:30 she looked somewhat pale.

She was uneasy and crying a lot, I could bare it no longer and needed to hold her.

After sitting with her for about 2 hours and calming her somewhat Janita was anxious
to hold her baby sister. As she was holding her, her breathing became heavy and she
was oh so pale and felt cool. Her head was bobbing up and down. The nurse came
and got Janita to hold an oxygen mask on her face. I was worried about Janita as this
is to dramatic for a 14 year old. So I had to insist that the nurse put her in her bed again.
Janita walked off all emotional. We were told to leave the room but we kept coming back.
Her breathing was worsening and more and more people rushed in with oxygen tanks etc.
She was rushed back to intensive care were it took 1 1/2 hours to get her breathing down.
Actually she was put on morphine and an oxygen tube was put in as her lung collapsed. She is currently still not breathing on her own but the oxygen tank is doing the breathing for her.
From the many things we were told we understand she had a milky white unknown fluid by her lungs this was causing the breathing distress which in turn off course was a chain reaction of many things going wrong in her body like the heart rate going up etc. etc.

This was such a shock for us as she seemed to be doing so well and yet again we thought we might have to loose our dear little baby. We prayed and cried a lot but oh the helpless feelings, the panic inside we as parents can not describe the feelings & emotions we went through yet again. All we know is that we love her so much and don't want to loose our little girl. As a mother this was all to much to see and I needed to leave the room every now and then to pull myself together.

Currently Lorena is not only getting the breathing done for her but she is on morphine and being closely monitored every minute on intensive care. The care is amazing as there were over 17 people involved including doctors and surgeons when she came down to intensive care.

They do not yet know what caused the fluids, they hope to figure that out by morning.  They said it could be that the iv leaked or that there is a defect with her lymph or possible a hole in her stomach. Currently they are not sure and we need to wait until morning. They told us we need to go home and get our rest and they would call if there was any change.

Please pray for Lorena that she will pull through okay, pray for wisdom for the doctors and medical team to find what may be wrong, pray for strength for us to cope. We love this our precious little girl so much, we pray that our Heavenly father will take care of her. Again and again I think of Romans 8:28 as I do not understand the Lord's ways but He has a purpose for all of this.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

Thank you all for praying for this precious little life.

Just before we left, Lorena regained some color.

Please pray for our little girl.
