Baby Lorena stable again |
|
January 22, 2008 Hi All,
We want to share with you the answered prayers we experienced today. This morning when we came in a few things had happened in the night. At 1:00 AM she again began to breath badly and the people in intensive care soon figured out that when they had drawn out most of the fluid behind her lungs that air had slipped in behind her lung causing her lung to not be able to breath again. Her lung collapsed yet again. We had asked them to call us if things changed but the staff had decided not to call us as we had been through so much stress already. The solution was putting in a drain tube to drain out the air and the bit of fluid that was still there. This stabelized her again. All night the machine was breathing for her. In the morning when we came in she was still on the breathing machine. Then her morphine was wearing off a bit as they wanted to try to get her breathing mostly on her own again they wanted to make sure that the morphine would not interfere with that and needed her more alert. So this was a painful bit of time for her. I sat with her to rub her forehead and hold her hand for along time and this seemed to comfort her somewhat. The doctor told us the test result just before noon, the problem had been that her IV had slipped into her lung as the fluids that were tested were the same as came from the IV. Thank the Lord was our first response. What a relieve, that there is no other defect in her little body to deal with on top of it all. You can not imagine the relieve and the overwhelming thankfulness to our Lord and Saviour for this news.
Then around 12 they removed the breathing machine and with the help of a large oxygen tube on her nose she started to breath on her own again. After a few hours she got a smaller oxygen tube and is breathing nicely on that all day. She has her wonderful color back and is looking so much better again. She is still going to be very sore for at least a few more days from the big tube that was in her throat. She is also sore were the drain is in her chest. They are hoping to close the drain tomorrow and watch her closely if she does okay then still. Around 1:00 Pm she was starting to be fed 1cc breast milk per hour again and she has taken that successfully all day.
Today was a totally different day and as things go better with Lorena our stress level is going down. She is a little fighter and though she has already endured so much in just 6 days of live we trust the Lord will help her through it all.
We were blessed with lots of visitor today, it was nice to see so many concerned people come in for a visit. Thank you to those all who were able to come and or helped out in some way or an other. We started receiving nice meals and people who offered to bring in a nice meal this coming week. These meals are great after living off of cafeteria roasted sandwiches for a week. This is encouraging!
We truly thank the Lord for his wonderful care and for Lorena being in stable condition once again. She will still be in intensive care for 1 to 2 days if all goes well.
Thank you again for all your prayers and other ways you have helped out, this is all special to us.

In the morning after the breathing tube was removed. She is now breathing with the help of oxygen through her nose
Her eyes still puffy from fluids.
She loves to be rubbed on her head and she likes to hold moms finger.
Or is it mom who likes to do this?
The large oxygen hose was removed for a little hose in her nose.
Holding on to mom's finger and when it hurt she would pinch hard,
her finger nails are already so long she really knew how to dig
them into mom's finger.

Brother Jeremy came after school to spend time with his sister at the
hospital .
Her favorite song: Jesus loves you this I know (my
version)............
She might even know this song by now as mom sang it over and over
for the past 6 days.
Good night my little sweetheart, we love you!
Mommy must leave you again until morning.
