Lorena's Surgery Pictures

January 17, 2008

The following pictures were taken in the operating room

by Dr. R. Eccles, the surgeon who operated Lorena.

Lorena in the operating room at 4:42 PM. Just 23 hours after she was born.

Lorena's Omphalocele.

Through the membrane the intestines are very visible.

Lorena made ready for the operation.

At 5:45 PM Dr. Eccles came across an other problem.

Lorena's bowels had an other outlet to her navel.

This meant there was no way to spare any of the navel

to fashion a belly button as it needed to be cut off.

At 7:50 PM the operation was finally completed.

There was enough room to fit everything back into

her belly without squishing the lungs and there was

enough muscle tissue and skin to close her belly.

Thank the Lord for answered prayers.

Dr. Eccles did a wonderful job closing up her belly.

We will be for ever grateful for what Dr. Eccles

has done for our baby girl. May the Lord  bless

her for using her talents & skills to save lives.
