Short Version

The Burnettes are Cora and Chris Burnette.

They are 50% polyester, 50% cotton.

Cora (the polyester), a Montreal native, moved West in 1996. She's packed a few times, but hasn't left yet.

Chris (the cotton) is from Asheville NC, and he hates the snow.

They currently reside in Vancouver..

Long Version

The Burnettes are Cora and Chris Burnette.

A Buckingham/Nicks for the modern age, the Vancouver based duo is a combination of Cora's penchant for roots and standards, and Chris's love of old school punk-rock. The result is some wacky, fun-lovin' toe tapping kitchen-party-pop peppered with harmonies, easy melodies, and more than a few shoe-gazing numbers in between.

With the exception of two or three guest appearances (check credits) The Burnettes are responsible for all of the instrumentation on their albums. Cora's vocals, rythym guitar, drums and keyboards can be found on the majority of the songs, as are Chris's vocals, bass, and guitar.

Their LIVE SHOW is typically a somewhat stripped version of their recordings which profiles the incredible musical dynamic between them. Dueling distorted acoustic guitars with the odd keyboard or lap organ...um, yes lap organ.

In their shady past, The Burnettes been known to tour with a little help from their friends (Jay Kreway - Field Day, Tanya Gordon - All Woman Brothers Band). In other words, don't be surprised by a whole different backing line-up the next time you see them.

Their first release, 'Album Schmalbum', was received wonderfully by both critics and show-goers alike. Cora & Chris toured Canada in August 2003, then settled in back home to record.

Now, a year later, the Burnettes have released their second full length ‘We’d Better Be Dreaming'. 14 new songs about friends, foes, family and the end of the world.

You will find a few of their favourite tracks off of the record on the music page.
