BURNETTES NEWS

A Little Birdy Told Me:

  • December 15th 2007 : New CD is READY. We're releasing two singles digitally first, one the 'It's Christmastime' and the second 'Western Solution', both available from ITunes and Puretracks etc... The ALBUMS will also be available digitally within a week or so. Big show at The Main December 22nd with our new band....sooooo exciting! The Cd will be available for that.

  • October 22nd 2007 : So It looks like another year has passed since an update....what the hell?!? Lots of exciting things though. NEW ALBUM coming out December 2007. You heard me, it's called 'Nothing Ever Happens Here' and it features ten lovely songs plus the Christmas tune we put on an SPCA benefit album last year. NEW BAND we've been working with Craig Nasen on bass, and old friend from Edmonchuck, and Michael Brae on drums, a really cool, relaxed and laid back dude we met here in Vancouver. Keep ears open for our CD release show date.....and YES there will be food again.

  • August 6th 2006: Well HELLOOOOOO out there! I can't believe it's been more than a year since I have updated this website. Shame on me. Well, we're still alive, in case you were all wondering. For those of you who don't know we have been a little busy with our new drummer, Sasha Burnette. And let me tell you, she's AWESOME! She's got this unique style and we're thinking of patenting her method of drumming the dog's giant fake toothbrush chew toy on her upside-down plastic food bowl...sounds wicked! So yes, we're back at it and yes, we've been recording the third record. Okay, Chris has been recording the third record, but my songs are not far behind! Seriously, I've been busy writing my little heart out every time Sashie naps so if you add up 12 minutes a day for the last 386 days, well, that's like three and a half songs...at least! We expect the album (as of yet untitled) to be done by Christmas, with a depressing dead of winter release date of something like February 25th. We will be touring summer 2007, (we've got to get on this while it's still free for the little one to fly, did I mention I'm cheap?), keep checking for dates. Thanks for hanging in fans! More as it happens... xocora.

  • June 26th, 2005: Holy CRAP that was a fun show! That's right, the 24th has come and gone and a big thank you to all that made it to the final Burnettes show before the big break. Yup, if you haven't heard, The Burnettes are taking a few months off to record a new album and organize their lives. Keep checking back for updates, we expect our third full length to be ready by early to mid 2006, but we may play a show or two before that. (We've never been able to resist a good Chrismas show, so who knows?) Bye for now, we love you all. xocora.
  • June 12th 2005: Next show and possibly LAST VANCOUVER SHOW FOR A WHILE (The Burnettes are soon taking a teeny tiny roughly 6-8lb hiatus) at The Candy Bar with The Feminists - sexy, fun local indie pop) and Marc Charron (crazed one man band from Ottawa). The Candy Bar, booked by none other than Frankie Rumbletone himself, is at 2066 Kingsway corner Victoria (at the OTHER end of Commercial Drive) and is supposed to be a pretty wicked venue. Come on down, should be a hummmmmmmdinger.
  • June 5th 2005: Sad, sad news....The Burnettes have had to cancel their NXNE showcase. We were slated to play at the Cameron House on June 10th (which is also Chris' birthday, by the way) but have had to cancel due to an unexpected medical issue. Nothing drastically wrong, nobody panic, but we should not be flying around the country at this time. Thanks so much to Travis Bird, festival honcho, for his understanding. Promise we'll see you next year!
  • May 30th 2005: Holy CRAP that was a fun tour! We just got back from Alberta and had a wicked time! Thanks to all the friends and family who came out to the shows, also thanks for all the crazy press (check the new articles on our press page)....geez you guys are nice over there. Mung RULED (as usual), and Hana was a total sweetie in the backseat. Tons of BBQin', pizza, sunshine and booze (none for me, of course). Thanks to CJSW for the interview - Chad you're freakin' hilarious. Good times had by all. Photos up soon...
  • April 26th 2005: BURNETTES INVITED TO PLAY NXNE! Well THIS is exciting! We were asked to play at North By Northeast 2005, a big snooty music festival in Toronto. Details to come...
  • April 25th 2005: June Shows added! We will be doing a mini west coast tour with The Feminists (Vancouver) and Marc Charron (Ottawa). Friday June 24th at The Candybar (Kingsway at Victoria in Vancouver, Frank Rumbletone promoter extraordinaire) and Saturday June 25th in Victoria (venue TBA).

  • April 24th 2005: New show added for May! The Burnettes will be playing with Leeroy Stagger (on tour) and Patrick Brealy & The Knives. Should be a good'un.

  • April 14th 2005: Well, we just found out we're going on a little tour of Alberta. Night Gallery in Calgary Friday May 27th with Lindy, Black Dog in Edmonton on Saturday May 28th(afternoon show), and The Victory Lounge (with Old Reliable and The Swiftys) on Sunday May 28th. We're pretty excited about that last one, we're HUGE Old Reliable fans.....but aren't we all?

  • April 10th 2005: The show with the Camromance from Montreal was a lot of fun....they were fantastic! Some Teeth from Winnipeg didn't make it but Vancouver's own Leah Abrahamson stepped up for a few tunes on the guitar - pretty voice she has.

  • March 2005: WOW. We're back folks. It was a BLIZZARD on the tour and MINUS seventeen pretty much the whole time. Incredible. But we made it, and had a great time, despite my bitchiness (sorry guys) and the mind-bogglingly cheezy car we rented (ohmygod the Chrysler 300 looks like it just rolled out of a rap video photos to come). Shows were great, thanks to all friends, fans and family who showed up. Next show April 7th with the Camromance from Montreal at the Pic....see you there!

  • February 2005: The Burnettes will be performing live on the University of Toronto's music station CIUT 89.5's "The First Word' show at 10:30am February 28th. Not to be missed...unless you're sleeping.

  • February 2005: It's official: The Burnettes (Cora, Chris & Mung) are heading to Toronto to play the Wavelength Series at Sneaky Dee's February 27th (pretty cool zine outfit, check out their website) and Canadian Music Week at Clinton's March 3rd.

  • February 2005: The Burnettes will be playing a show with the lovely Miss Tamara Nile at the Backstage Lounge on Granville Island...I think we may even dress up for this one. Thursday February 24th, 9pm or so, don't miss it!

  • October 2004: The Burnettes have officially released their brand new album "We'd Better Be Dreaming". It is available through Scratch Records, FAB Distribution, or directly from Go-Rock Records by email order.
