The Metro Edmonton High School Athletic Association was formed in 1988 and currently has 26 member high schools from the Metro Edmonton area, including schools from Elk Island Public, Elk Island Catholic, Edmonton Catholic, North Central Francophone, Black Gold, St. Thomas Aquinas, Sturgeon, St. Albert Protestant and Greater St. Albert Catholic and Parkland Immanuel.

Interschool leagues offered by the Metro Association include Football, Golf, Soccer, Volleyball, Swimming, Basketball, Wrestling, Curling, Badminton, Cheerleading, Rugby, Cross Country Running, and Track and Field.
