MARY'S GENEALOGY TREASURES

My grandfather, owned and operated the grocery store in
In the years from 1926 to 1943 he and his sons farmed.
Diamond City from 1917 to 1928. With the help of his
daughters and sons, a delivery service was carried out to
farm and town residents in the Diamond City, Commerce
and Coalhurst areas. He also owned a grocery store in
Lethbridge. Horse and buggy were used in those days to
carry out the deliveries. My father tells stories of being
caught out in blizzards which would blow up suddenly
while he was out on deliveries and of having to give his
horse free reign to bring them back home because of the
poor visibility.
Farming days came to an end for my grandfather after an
accident in which he was kicked and badly trampled by a
horse.
