Jack Blankenship and
Cloa Packard Blankenship

Pinepound Reflections - A History of
Spring Coulee and District page 220

Jack Blankenship worked around Spring Coulee
during the second decade of the century. On Jan 20,
1914 he and Alvaro Beswick had a double wedding
and married the Packard sisters, Cloa and Lois,
respectively. Jack and Cloa had one child, Dorotha.
Cloa died soon after and her family cared for the
child until Jack returned to Spring Coulee from
Vancouver with his new wife Marion. They lived
for a short time on the farm 4 miles N.E. of Spring
Coulee.

The next move was to East Glacier to run a
restaurant. They had two children Ray and Cora.
Their last move was to West Glacier where they
built River Bend Cabins on the Flathead River.
They also owned and operated the Vista Motel
along the Highway just outside West Glacier.
When Jack died Marion continued to operate
the motel with the help of her son Ray for many
years. She finally retired to Kalispell but died
shortly after in about 1990.
