Henry Sherman Burr and
Emma Jane Hancock

Water Works Wonders
A History of the White, Wilson,
McMahon, River Junction
School Districts Page 295
by Yvonne Burr Osmond

Henry Sherman Burr was born 27 June 1874 in Payson,
Utah. He was the oldest of the 13 children of Henry
Uriah and Caroline Julia (Beal) Buff. He moved with
his parents to Burrville, Utah when he was a child
and lived there until his marriage to Emma Jane Hancock.
In 1902 they moved to Raymond, Alberta because he
heard there was good land for farming. They raised
chickens and cows, and sold eggs and milk to the
Raymond store.

Henry bought two pieces of property near Raymond
but found it was not sufficient to support his family
so he sold this property and bought a farm about
12 miles northwest of Raymond, S 1/2 36-7-21 -W4.
In 1921 he started a dairy farm and shipped milk to
Lethbridge. At one time he was the third largest shipper
to the Crystal dairy.

Henry returned to Utah in 1931. He died suddenly in
1949, Emma died in Mount Pleasant, Utah in 1954.
