Del Bonita Catholic Church

Taken from "Heritage of the High Country-
A History of Del Bonita and surrounding Districts

The parish of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus of Cardston
is one of the oldest in the Diocese of Calgary. The parish
priests came out to the outlying settlements of Harrisville,
Boundary Creek, Whiskey Gap, and Del Bonita and
held mass in the homes. Father Leaver held mass in the
homes or at Rinard School. Sometimes baptisms were
held.

During the 50's mass was held at August Plunet's home in
Whiskey Gap.

When Father Weisgurber was parish priest at Cardston,
the Jefferson United Church was moved to Whiskey
Gap. It was renovated for a Catholic Church. By
1966 masses were discontinued, owing to the fact that
many Catholic families had moved away.
