THE SPRING COULEE CEMETERY

"Pinepound Reflections"
a History of Spring Coulee - page 64

by La Vaun Thompson

The Spring Coulee Cemetery Is located on the
South West Quarter of Section 33, Township 4,
Range 23, which is a plot of land donated by
John C Thompson, to be used as a burial place
for deceased residents of the area.

The first one to be buried there was the eleven
month old daughter of John C. and Christine Ann
MacKenzie Thompson. Mary Christine was a victim
of scarlet fever. Since that time, many others
have also been interred there.

Through the years, maintenance of the cemetery
has been taken care of by individuals caring for
their loved ones' graves, as well as those nearby.
The Community Club looked after the upkeep of
the grounds for several years. As a service project,
the young people of the LDS Church spent a day
mowing, and cleaning, with very acceptable results.

For the past few years, Arlean and David Hofer have
assumed the task of maintaining the cemetery with
meticulous care. Their volunteer efforts are
gratefully appreciated.
