MARY'S GENEALOGY TREASURES
DEL BONITA (of the pretty) or as the Indians call it
Kai Kim-i-kay, Opening through the Ridge.
Del Bonita is not known for mayors, aldermen,
banks, cinemas or malls. It is known for people with
courage who left lands rich in culture, friendliness,
and familiar surroundings, to brave hardships of
loneliness, and miles and miles of nothing but wav-
ing stretches of bunch grass. Now their descendants
enjoy the peace, the tilled fields, the value of work,
the beauty of the rolling hills, and all that makes life
easier in this year 1980.
Present day Del Bonita has a store and post
office, bulk gas station, a school where children are
taught through grade nine, a community hall, the
Latter Day Saints Church, a recreation park, five
homes, and the Municipal District shop.
This small spot is the place that many people
call home. It is a place you want to come back to, to
enjoy the friendliness, companionship, and sports-
manship of people willing to help in time of need.
As you read this book, those who compiled it
hope you will see the people and understand the love
they have for the land of the Milk River watershed.
