Alexander and Agnes Donaldson

Taken from Our Treasured Heritage-
A History of Coalhurst and District
Pages 306 - 307

Alexander and Agnes Donaldson came to Canada from
Motherwell, Scotland in 1922 and 1923. Alexander and
his oldest son Thomas coming first in 1922, and then
Agnes and her other three sons Andrew, Alex and Jim
and one daughter coming later in 1923. They came to
Coalhurst to work in the mine; Alexander and all
his sons worked there. The Donaldson family moved
to Shaughnessy in 1933. Alexander passed away in 1953
and Agnes in 1968.

Thomas, the oldest of the sons moved to Coleman,
where he and his wife raised their family of five children.
Tom died in 1953. Tom had four sons and one daughter.
His son Baron was born 1940 and passed away in 1968.

Andrew (Nov. 14, 1905-Jan. 15, 1976) and his wife Helen
lived in Shaughnessy, where Andy worked in the mine.
After Andrew's death, Helen moved to Lethbridge, where
she lived with her sister until her death in 1981. They
had no family.

Alex (May 13, 1913-1975) moved to Shaughnessy, where
he lived until his death. Alex was in the Army and served
overseas during world war 11. Alex had one daughter.

Jim (Feb. 19, 1917-Apr. 9, 1981) moved to Shaughnessy,
and then to Lethbridge where he lived until his death. Jim
had one daughter and one son. Jim also served in the
army during world war II.

Alexander's daughter moved to Lethbridge four years after
her move to Canada in 1926 and still resides there.
