William and Sarah Fleming

Taken from Our Treasured Heritage-
A History of Coalhurst and District
Pages 317-318

William and Sarah Fleming were born in Cumberland, England,
and came to Canada in 1920, after the first World War, where
Mr. Fleming served in France for four years with the Irish Guards.

They came to Coalhurst with their family of seven, four sons and
three daughters. Mr. Fleming and two of his sons worked in
the mine until one son and his father both suffered injuries and
had to leave.

Two daughters left Coalhurst to work in Lethbridge and both
eventually moved to Vancouver where they married. Edith passed
away in 1975.

Mr. and Mrs. Fleming moved to Lethbridge in 1941 and were both
active in the Salvation Army. They celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary in 1954. Mrs. Fleming passed away at the age of
eighty-eight and Mr. Fleming at the age of ninety.
