Oteialo (Tschriter) Gast

Jacob Gast was born October 18, 1886 and died
October 29, 1978. Oteialo Gast was born Feb 6,1890
and died Feb 28,1979. Jacob and Oteialo came to
Canada in 1911 from Germany. They settled in the
town of Irvine, Alberta, where Jacob was the local
blacksmith for a year or two. Then they moved to a
farm south of Irvine, a district called Newburg,
where they farmed until 1929. They then moved in
the spring of 1929 to Spring Coulee. In the fall of
1929 they moved to Magrath. Jacob and Oteialo
retired in 1950 and moved to Lethbridge and lived
there until they passed away. They were married over
70 years. The couple was blessed with five children,
2 girls and 3 boys.

Of the children, Jake married Magdilina Rath and
they had six children, 3 boys and 3 girls. Some
of the children have various degrees and live
in British Columbia and Alberta. Jake passed
away in 1985 and Maggie in 1990.

Albert married and lived in Kelowna B.C. and had 2
children, 1 boy and 1 girl who have various degrees
and live in Alberta. Albert passed away in 1988.
