MARY'S GENEALOGY TREASURES

Emil was born March 11, 1888 in East Prussia, Germany,
and died on December 13, 1980. Reiman, Eliza was born July 27,
1893 in Bokhum, Germany.
They were married in Germany and he decided to start a
better life as a miner in Coalhurst. Emil arrived in 1913 and
Eliza a year or so later. However, they left in 1929 to farm
in the Kipp area, as the mines were not working very steadily.
During the winters, until the 1940's, he still worked in the mines.
They had ten children, all born in Coalhurst. Three served in
the Second World War. Alfred was killed in action in 1945.
Adolph - deceased 1980.
Wilfred - deceased 1922.
Alfred - deceased 1945 (Second World War)
Minnie - deceased 1929.
During the Depression 1929-39 were the worst years, as work
was scarce and farm produce of little value. They travelled
by horse and buggy for supplies. There was more prosperity
after 1945.
They were members of the Lutheran Church, also belonged to
the Independent Order of the Oddfellows.
