Anthony Gresl and
Helen Vasel Gresl

Anthony was born in Czechoslovakia, where he married
Helen (nee Vasel). They had five children born there.
Anthony came to Lethbridge, bringing with him three
children Mary, Joe and Louis. Then Helen came later with
the other three Rose, Anthony Jr. and Charles. They had
five more children born in Lethbridge, Fritz, John, Rudolf,
Steve, and one son still living. Anthony Sr. was a miner in
Lethbridge and Coalhurst. Helen was an ardent gardener
and always had beautiful flowers, especially sweet peas,
and an excellent vegetable patch. She made many warm
feather beds for her home. All the children had to help by
stripping feathers.

Mary, the oldest, married and they moved to Pennsylvania
with their three children.

Joe married and had two girls. Joe divorced and
then remarried had two daughters.

Rose married and they had six children, five sons and
one daughter.

Louis married and had two boys.

Anthony Jr. married and had one daughter.

Charles married in St. Joseph's Church in Coalhurst.
They had three children, two daughters and one son.

Fritz married in Coalhurst, and had one daughter.

John married and had two daughters.

Rudolf married and had three children, two sons and
one daughter.

Steve married and they had no children.

All of Anthony and Helen's children have passed away
except one son.

Three boys, Anthony Jr., Louis and Fritz were killed in
the Coalhurst Mine explosion of 1935.

Anthony Sr. died in 1947, and wife Helen died in 1929.
