by Margaret Lewis

The Hargreaves were in the Coalhurst district shortly after the mine opened. Catherine (Kate) Donaghue came to Canada on the H. M. S. " Virginian " on March Ist, 1912 and proceeded west to the Kipp and Coalhurst district.

Here she met Reuben Hargreaves of Kipp and they were married November 29, 1915.

Mother and Dad had three children born in Coalhurst: William (Bill) was born on July 14, 1918, Thomas (Tom) born October 28, 1920 and myself, Margaret Ann.

Dad worked in the mines, C.P.R. and when he mines were idle in the summer months he worked on the farms. Dad passed away while working in the mine. The family later moved to Lethbridge.

Bill passed away in January 1945. Tom enlisted in the Second World War serving overseas and passed away January 20, 1962 leaving two children.

Mother stayed with us in Cumberland and she passed away in 1966.
