During this time he returned to Ontario, married again, and brought his second wife, Elizabeth Sharpe, to the west for a few years. They returned to Ontario, where W. D. passed away in 1928 at the age of sixty-two years.
While in the west he homesteaded a quarter section of land in the Del Bonita area, which his son, Sharpe, farmed for many years.
He was a devoted member of the Presbyterian church and loved to sing in the choirs. He had eight grandchildren, the family of Sharpe and Irella Henry.
