Tom and Ruth Kinnell

Taken from "Our Treasured Heritage-
A History of Coalhurst and District
Pages 379-380

Tom and Ruth Kinnell came to Coalhurst from Scotland
with their two young sons, Alex (Kelly) and Jim. Tom
was employed in the Coalhurst mine. Later they had two
more sons.

Tom Sr. was an avid gardener and was proud of the large
sized vegetables he grew. He always had a beautiful flower
garden. Ruth was an average housewife looking after her
family and making all of the clothes they wore.

After the mine disaster the family moved to Lethbridge where
the boys finished their education. Tom Sr. worked at No. 8
mine in Lethbridge until his retirement. They lived in Lethbridge
until the time of their deaths.
