In 1949 Elmer married Reine M. (Amelia) Blampaine and they rented the farm to Hank Graveland. They moved to Red Deer where they lived for two or three years, and then moved back to Lethbridge.

Elmer passed away in 1960. Amelia sold the farm in 1970 to Ed Newton.

Amelia passed away in 1978. Elmer and Amelia were both buried in Lethbridge.
