Walter and May Porter

Water Works Wonders
A History of the White, Wilson, McMahon,
River Junction School Districts Page 412

In 1907, brothers-in-law from Iowa, Dan Fiske and
David Dykstra, had bought section 18, one which
John Saler had broken. In 1908 they bought another
section and another brother-in-law, Walter Porter,
farmed it for many years.

Walter and May had two sons, Lawrence (Red) and David.
It is not known whether Lawrence attended White School.
He returned to the U. S. where he was involved with trucking.
He died in 1970. David Porter attended White School in the
class with Doug Petrie, Roy Hadlington, Ernie Snowden. He
served with the American Forces during the second World War,
and was shot up badly. He and his wife, Nora had a farm in
Oregon, where he raised cattle. They had no family. After
several years of ill health, David died in the late 1980's.
