MARY'S GENEALOGY TREASURES
Norman Elmer Rusk was born 1885 in Prairie Sound,
Ontario. He married Margaret Victoria Raite who was
born in 1887 in South Hampton England. She was
raised in Scotland, just happened to be born in
England. Elmer and his family farmed Thompson land
in Spring Coulee for a number of years.
Elmer was a big rough looking type while his wife Maggie
as she was known was always petite and a real character.
They then moved to Raymond where Elmer worked for
the Sugar Factory until his retirement. Maggie died in
Raymond in 1943, Elmer in 1947. They are both buried
in Raymond.
Elmer and Margaret had two daughters and 3 sons.
Mabel, the oldest child, died in 1986. She was a devoted
mother and grandmother.She was born in Gainsborough,
Saskatchewan in 1909. Mable married Austin Terry and
had 5 children.Mabel was a house wife as well as cook
for railway crews. She was waitress and hostess for ten
years at the Marquis Hotel. Mabel Margaret (Terry),
Mable's daughter, was born in 1929 and died in 1929.
LaVern Rusk (was called Toots), married Andy Rae. They
had twins . She divorced and later married Jack Tait. He
died and she married Gordon Armstrong. LaVern did
waitress work for awhile and worked in Calgary General
Hospital for years. She and her husband Gordon Armstrong
made jewelry out of rocks in their retirement. She died in
B.C.
Dick Rusk the youngest took his schooling in Spring
Coulee and Raymond. He was in the services all through
the war. Later he worked in shipyards on the B.C. coast.
He was married and had no children. He died in 1992
at the coast.
