Andrew V. Smith and Minnie Smith (nee Cowans) were both
In 1940, he joined the Canadian Army, and saw action
Mrs. Smith was both homemaker and disciplinarian.
born in Scotland, and immigrated to Canada in 1928, they
were married in Drumheller, Alberta in June of 1929.
They moved to Coalhurst in the early 1930's. Mr. Smith
was employed at the Coalhurst mine for a short period of
time, he was also employed with the Government, on
the Highways and telephone department.
in Italy, Belgium and France, returning to Lethbridge in
1945. Mr. Smith passed away in 1957.
She was active in the church as well as the Women's
group. She very much missed her native Scotland and
her family. Many times she was heard to say, she would
love to return home, however she never did. Mrs. Smith
passed away in 1951.
