Walter J. Smith and Pauline Esser Smith

Walter Smith was born in 1899 in Minnesota and
died in 1953.. He came to Canada in 1910, first to
Del Bonita, and then to Edmonton, before moving to
Wilson Siding.

On January 23, 1923, Walter married Pauline Esser
(b. 1905 - d. 1995) of Magrath, Pauline was born in Mitchell,
South Dakota, and had immigrated to Canada, and to Magrath,
with her parents at an early age. Together Walter and
Pauline moved to Wilson Siding where they farmed a large
successful wheat farm.

They had three children, two daughters and one son. After
Walter's death, Pauline married Walter's brother Dick and
farmed for several years before moving to Lethbridge. Dick
died in 1972 and Pauline in 1995.
