History of The Settlement of
Southern Alberta

I would like to honor all pioneers who came to Southern Alberta.
During the late 1800's and early 1900's thousands of pioneers were
instrumental in helping to colonize and establish Southern Alberta.
Of these early settlers, many were L.D.S pioneers who settled in
the Cardston, Magrath, Raymond, and Stirling areas. They hoped
to find religious freedom, land, jobs and stability.

These L.D.S. pioneers, along with many other early settlers, brought
their families, talents, and skills, and with determination, made this
land a place of beauty, with rolling grain fields, cattle ranches,
and beautiful homes.

Many pioneers suffered terrible hardships and sacrificed all they had
to come to a strange land. I wish to pay special tribute to them
all, for they have made Southern Alberta what it is today.

These histories are from books that have been published about these
early pioneers and the towns that they settled. With special permission
from those people involved in the publication of these books, I have
been able to add these histories to my website. I am grateful to
all those who have made it possible to share this great legacy with you.
