William Vickers

Taken from "Our Treasured Heritage-
A History of Coalhurst and District
Pages 554-556
by Elizabeth Dunn Wylie

My Dad, Mr. William Vickers, came to Taber in May, 1911 to work
in the mines. The family followed in May, 1912. Mother died on
August 10, 1923 and the family moved to Coalhurst after the Taber
mine closed.

Dad was a carpenter and helped build the water tower. William
married Jessie Hawieson about 1928 and they had one son.

William was electrocuted at the hotel in Coalhurst on Thanksgiving,
1936. The hotel was then looked after by myself until 1938
when I left Coalhurst.

My brother William Jr. married and had one daughter and died
August 31, 1963.

Our stepmother, Jessie, passed away October 15, 1973 at the
age of eighty-two or eighty-three.
