Water Works Wonders
A History of the White, Wilson, McMahon,
River Junction School Districts Page 462

David Whitney was born in Kingston, Ontario, in 1860, and
came west to Fort Macleod in 1882. He ranched there with
his brothers, Robert and Walter for a number of years, and
then moved to Lethbridge where he became a real estate
dealer. He owned the "Ideal Farm" just outside of Lethbridge.
He married Nancy Etta (Nettie) Hutton in 1886. David and
Nettie had four children: three boys, Stanley, Frank, and
David, and a daughter, Maude.

David Whitney Sr. died in 1936. His wife continued to live
on the farm until 1940, when she married Newton Parsons
and moved into Lethbridge. Nettie died in 1956.
