D.Yakiwczuk moved to Coalhurst from Lethbridge in 1912, where he
built a house in "Wigan." Mrs. Yakiwczuk with their son and three
children of a previous marriage came in 1913. Born in Coalhurst
were three sons and one daughter. Joey died in 1926 after a lengthy
illness.

All the children attended school in Coalhurst, the boys later working
in the area until after the explosion in 1935.

Spike (Michael) worked for the Lethbridge Northern, enlisting in
the Candian Army. After the war he worked as icemaker for
the arena. later the Brewery, passing away in 1981.

Mrs. Yakiwczuk passed away in 1936 and her husband in 1950.
