Years ago, the founder of NORTH PEACE™ was travelling north of the Arctic Circle in Canada’s Yukon Territory to head a research team studying the ecology of caribou. It was late August – a time when the weather in this part of the world can be as unpredictable as the wind. It wasn’t long before a tongue of Arctic air came in off the Arctic ice pack bringing with it a thick cold fog and snow mixed with rain. The group was north of the treeline and had no shelter other than a tent. During camp assembly, some of the shock cords on the tent broke creating an extremely dangerous situation. A potential disaster was averted only by using a few well selected pieces of Arctic willow in place of the shock cord - an idea of one of the Lucheux Indian members of the party. Although the group survived the ordeal, the team leader and founding member of NORTH PEACE™ made a commitment to create a new type of tent frame system that would never fail, and would be so simple to use that even a first time camper could use it with only a little instruction. This system design was based on a simple principle – the frame and tent had to be uniconstructed with no loose parts that can be misplaced or lost. Furthermore, this new tent frame system must be strong and durable enough to allow for a warranty that is unequalled on the market. To accompany such an advanced frame system design, the founder was also committed to the development of a wide range of high quality outdoor equipment. Although the products created under the NORTH PEACE™ name originated from an individual with extensive experience in remote wilderness living, the fact is that all of the NORTH PEACE™ Team have seen the joy taken away from the family camping experience due to the introduction of complex tent shelter systems, the assembly of which causes inconvenience and unnecessary stress on the average camper.
