Astronomy Tents
RETURN TO MAIN INDEX
| The Galileo and Orion tents were designed in consultation with key members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada to meet the practical needs of amateur astronomers. The important practical features of these NORTH PEACE astronomy tents include the reflection of light that would otherwise interfere with the optics of the telescope, and sheltering the observer and telescope against wind. The astronomy tents have four door panels with noseeum mesh that are designed to open so that a telescope can be positioned from horizontal to near vertical. In addition, two mesh compartmentalized containers are featured that easily clip along two walls, allowing for easy storage of maps and optical equipment. The entire inside of each astronomy tent is completely black to further assist in the elimination of unwanted light reflections, and each model has two large waterproof vents located on the lower part of two opposite walls that allow the user to have exceptional ventilation without disturbing the optical precision of the telescope. The SIMPLEX frame system enables quick assembly and take down, adding convenience and enjoyment of NORTH PEACE astronomy tents. The materials used are superior quality from the tough Nylon Oxford 420D floor with P/U 1500mm to the silver coated light reflecting canopy of Nylon Ripstop 190T with P/U 1200mm. All fabric is F/R, W/R and W/P with all seams sealed with seam seal tape for maximum water repellency. NORTH PEACE astronomy tents come in two models: the deluxe Galileo model (inside height of 6 ft. or 173 cm – pictured here) and the standard sized Orion (inside height of 5 ft. or 152 cm-not shown). |
