Shirley was my oldest daughter. I went through a very hard pregnancy with her. I almost lost my life but as I tell everyone "I am so stubborn that I refuse to lie down and die". She was a quiet girl. She was interested in crafts and hobbies of all kinds. I am surrounded by many mementoes created by her. The evening she was killed by that drunk driver will haunt me forever. She was walking with a group of her friends when the truck screamed around the corner. He didn't even stop. There was a manhunt out for him. His truck was easily identifiable and well known in the area. He eventually surrendered to the RCMP after several hours. Due to the time involved they could not prove that he was drunk at the time although he had been seen drinking all afternoon. He got 6 months.
