| This rifle started off as a Savage manufactured No4 MkIII* and was later, in 1951 given a factory thorough repair (FTR) at the Fazakerely factory bringing it up to the Mk2 configuration. This normally involved rebarreling and hanging the trigger from a bracket on the but socket rather than from the trigger guard. They also replaced all the wartime expedient parts. This rifle is very similar to my DCRA rifle. Both Rifles were originally No4 MkI* manufacturer by Savage in the US. They both ended up in the UK, and received a FTR at RSAF Fazakerely at nearly the same time. Both ended up back in North America, but here is where they differ. This one was did not get a conversion to 7.62 NATO. However this one is also a beautiful rifle with a great bore and shoots extremely well. |
