Just to escape from the incredibly busy city life in Lethbridge, Jasper, Berend and I went for a short hike towards the Waterton Lake. We saw a waterfall, rocks that were dutifully carried back to the lake so they could be thrown in, sticks that never seemed to be quite right and were therefore replaced frequently, flowers of all kinds, and the lake. Jasper and Berend convinced me to pay another visit to the lake to throw more rocks and wood in and they took the stiff breeze surprisingly well. On the way back the two chased the ground squirrels which was great fun for them (i.e. Jasper and Berend) as there is a large colony with extended burrows which opened many opportunities to give chase. At the end we visited the buffalo paddock where the buffalo were in the process of shedding their winter coat. Berend picked up on a poor little calf that was limping. |
| Berend took charge of the camera for a while and here is his report: The view Southwards. |
