December 2004
This Christmas was a lot of fun. Being almost two, Berend was old enough to appreciate all the presents and not just the wrapping paper and there was snow and it was cold and lovely.
As with every good Christmas, this one started with a long advent time when Jennifer made many very tasty cookies and Berend got to decorate some of them. Of course, Dexter would have loved to have more than just cookie crumbs.
There was a lot of snow of the dry and wind-blown variety in Lethbridge this December. That meant lots of snow-shoveling which is a great treat for the whole family: Peter gets to shovel, Dexter to jump around like a mad-dog, and Berend can pat the snow and rid the world of dangerous snowballs. Jennifer, meanwhile, gets to stay nice and warm inside, coming out only occasionally to snap a few pictures. We even made our first snow-man!!

And then of course came the great day of ripping open wrapping paper, playing with new toys, and eating all the tasty cookies: It was Christmas day - hooray!!! Jennifer got everybody going really early so we would have enough time to appreciate what Santa had left behind. And Berend took his time and towards lunch-time he had actually managed to open up all his presents, even taking breaks for breakfast and something to drink along the way.
