The Berend is here!

The Davis FamilyBerend, our little son, was born on January 24, 2003 at 10:32 p.m. He presented himself in breach position and came into this world through a C-section. The doctors at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital did a good job and delivered our healthy baby. On arrival he weighed 4152 g or 9 lb. and 2 oz. and measured 53 cm or 20 7/8 ''. He had a lot of hair on his little big head and it was hard to believe that he was three weeks early. We can safely assume that the estimate of the due date was off.

Berend is alive and kicking, sleeping, nursing well, and lets his parents know when something bothers him. He is still hiccuping and doing all the important baby things. After only three weeks he has already managed the art of spitting up. He likes the Canadian cold and calms down immediately when he gets to go outside. Maybe he tries to appease the Dexter who has suffered a significant decrease in attention and extensive walks since the Berend's arrival. Dexter takes good care of Berend though, rushes through the house to alert the primary caretakers when Berend is crying and licks the baby's head for comfort. Could a baby ask for more?

Meanwhile Jennifer is recovering from the surgery very well and on Family Day we had our family outing with stroller and dog and crying baby.
