We really loved our old little green house which gave us such a great place to be for about five years. The last few days we lived there, a superbly friendly neighborhood cat (Samson) visited us extensively. But that didn't help, our little green house simply was too small and we didn't want to sleep in the basement anymore. So we made it all pretty and got our trusted realtor Brenda to put it on the market. Within two weeks the deal was done which was a great relief as it is quite a production to keep a house tidy and clean with two little kids and a dog and vacate the house within a couple of hours notice with mouse and man and dog. We then had to find a new place which we promptly found in the hot Lethbridge housing market. Our new place is still on the South side, but on a quieter street with two playgrounds five minutes walking distance. We like this place very much and hope that we can stay here for a long time.
The timing of the move couldn't have been better: We had chosen the long Easter weekend to move from the old into the new house. That gave us a few days to paint the new place and clean up the old place, but more importantly, Margarete had already made plans to pay us a visit over Easter. Oh were we lucky! Margarete helped out everywhere: She painted (sacrificing socks and pullovers to the green wall paint), watched the kids, packed boxes, carried boxes, unpacked stuff, and was overall the calm in the uninhibited chaos that surrounded us.
We were lucky that so many colleagues and friends helped us out. Saturday saw me driving through town (with a vehicle which everybody kept calling 'one-tonne truck' but it really has a gross weight of 3.8 tons!) and lots of people packing and unpacking boxes all day long. The day before, Ben and I had already taken care of the nasty pieces (piano (I will never move a piano again, I promise), washer, couch). Special thanks go to everybody who was there supporting us during those Easter holidays. We could have NEVER done it without you.
Now, we are quite well settled in the new house. There are only a few more boxes kicking around and we found almost everything we need. Pictures are on the walls again thanks to Jennifer's tireless efforts and we feel very comfortable in the new place. By now, spring has come and this adds to the goodness we are currently enjoying. As a big treat we got ourselves a new gas stove and as you can see it works well and Jennifer is happy!
