    CI6CI
    Special Event Station
    Held January 16th & 17th, 1999

Well, after almost two years of planning, the "Peace Country Amateur Radio Club" located in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada has concluded the biggest event in our clubs history. The number of contacts we made were beyond expectations and thus the huge success. Before I continue on, firstly let me say that this event could not and would not have been such a huge success without the following people:

    OPERATORS:
    George VE6HX, Barb VE6BPH, Rick VE7FWP, Karl VE6KLJ, Tana VE6TLK, Deane VE6TVS, Terry VE6NSD, Don VE6CI, Guyle VE6GFZ & Bill VE6TUR

Two very busy guys:  Rick (VE7FWP/VE6) at the mic and Karl (VE6KLJ) at the keyboard.

The pictures were taken at the club station.

    ACKNOWLEDGMENTS:
A big thank you goes out to Sloan VE6WAT, Deane VE6TVS & Rick VE7FWP for spending so much time working on our Special Event Certificate. It looks great! Thanks guys!

I would also like to thank Pat VE7AGJ in Fort St. John BC for putting our special callsign on the DX spotting cluster. Pat kept monitoring us and when he felt we needed a little more business, he would put our call out on the system again. As soon as he did this, we were flooded with calls. Without your help Pat, we would not have made as many contacts as we did. Thanks.

To all those within the club who helped organize and offer suggestions when we were organizing this event...thank you. Your help was very much appreciated.

Below is a break down of some of the contacts we made:

    -We made 589 contacts
-On 80 meters we worked 78 stations
-On 20 meters we worked 79 stations
-On 15 meters we worked 15 stations
-on 10 meters we worked 400 stations

Over the 24 hours we were on the air, we formed teams of two and each worked a shift of about 4 hours. Below is who each team was, the times they worked, and how many contacts they made.

Noon till 4 pm operators were George VE6HX & Barb VE6BPH. They made 149 contacts.
4 pm till 8 pm operators were Rick VE7FWP & Karl VE6KLJ. They made 82 contacts.
8 pm till midnite operators were Bill VE6TUR & Tana VE6TLK. They made 61 contacts.
8 am till noon operators were Deane VE6TVS & Terri VE6NSD. They made 88 contacts.
noon till 3 pm operators were Don VE6CI & Guyle VE6GFZ. They made 195 contacts.

As you can see, there were a large number of contacts made from each group. This event could not have been as successful without each of those who helped. I trust that each of the stations who made contact with us had as much fun as we did.

I have received over 100 QSL cards. Many stations took time to drop a note on them and I have included their comments. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did.

Contest & QSL Manager for the
    Peace Country Amateur Radio Club

FB for your ham radio. It is a fine hobby. I have a grandson,
