Fall Colours Run Sep03 - Wild Rose Miata Club
[ Newsletter article here! ]A steady stream of cars started arriving shortly before the appointed time of 12 noon. I sometimes think we need Krispy Kreme Doughnuts in order to feed the troops before these excursions into the wilds of Alberta. They came from the North, South, East & West. We had a good representation of colours and even both shades of yellow to compare, with Len and Darlene and their Sunburst 92 Yellow and Dave & Eileen in their ’02 Blazing Yellow Mica. All totalled at picture taking time 22 Miata’s showed up. Picture taking proved to be a bit of a challenge as we all had to hike a long way from the line of cars in order to get every Miata in the picture.

One of many group photos - how many Miatas can you count?
Special mention goes to our new members who showed up only 2 days after attending their first meeting. As well, several members from Red Deer joined us. At 1PM we departed Gateway Park on our regular Highway 2 route, and then turned West on Highway 19. At the junction of 19 & 60, rather than turning south as we normally do, we continued westward on a route that was suggested by Mark G, to be met halfway by John H and Alvin M acting as photographers (Thanks guys). By taking this route, we by-passed Calmar and joined Highway 39 west of the bright lights of town, and then on to St. Francis. At the turn to St.Francis, ‘someone’ in a Dodge Van took an interest in our caravan and started taking pictures (no not that kind of picture). We continued northward out of St. Francis through the river valley where some trees were starting to turn colour. As we made one of many turns on the south-side of Wabamum, we caught the eye of a bunch of bikers who were out for their Fall Run. I think one of them was named "Cobra" because he spelled it just like the snake.

Comfortably warm fall day at Seba Beach - perfect top down weather!!
Arriving in Seba Beach, we had our customary 30 minute rest stop with allowed us to bulk up on munchies and coffee. And then it was homeward bound, back to St. Albert with a stop at Dairy Queen. Thanks to everyone who came along. - Barry N
