We parked on the street near the boat launch, and stretched our legs. The sun had been struggling to come out from behind the clouds and was almost winning the fight. This would indeed be our last club drive for 1999. Wabamun Lake was low, low enough that a boater backed his SUV about 50 feet into the water to pull his small craft onto its trailer. Some of us wandered out to the end of the pier and shivered a little. Looking back towards shore, the changing leaves speckled the summer green with autumn yellows, reds, and golds.
