Area Overview
The Town of Olds is ideally located on the Calgary/Edmonton highway #2 corridor, only 50 minutes away from the Calgary International Airport. The Town has a population of approximately 6,000 people. Olds College, western Canada's premier agricultural college provides training in agricultural technologies and business management; is a vital asset of the Olds community. The College also provides important research facilities, liaison with other research facilities and co-venture projects in specific areas. Olds is a rapidly growing, progressive community that enjoys a strong work ethic and a healthy quality of life. As a regional service centre, it provides a full compliment and abundant array of services.

Location
The Town of Olds is located in the County of Mountain View #17, between Calgary and Edmonton. It is 208 km south of Edmonton and 90 km north of Calgary.

Economic Base
An abundance of oil and gas reserves [10% of the provincial oil production and 23% of the gas production] has created a very favourable environment for economic growth in the area.Also, the County of Mountain View is the heartland of agriculture in Alberta. Olds is the regional market and service centre to a total of 1,784 farms. The County has a mixed farming base which allows its farmers to respond positively to various economic conditions. Because of its diversity, this farming community provides a secure base for a stable economy.
