ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

During the time I have spent investigating and researching Genealogy matters and particularly during preparation of this document, I have had the opportunity of corresponding with and meeting a number of relatives for the first time.

I have found that historically, it is "women" who are the recorders and keepers of family information and in most cases, it is their husband's family information they have preserved.

In this regard, it is my mother Pauline McGowan(#145), who has provided me with the largest portion of most accurate information used in this writing. "She is the provider of information, I am the scribe". She has walked through many cemeteries, arranged meetings and obtained information in the Rollingdam area that would otherwise be impossible for me to do from London, Ontario. She is far more important than she thinks in the overall completion of this document and because of this, she is in fact co-author.

On numerous trips to Toronto, I have frequently visited and conferred with my good friend Bill O'Sullivan(#192) who like myself, has a keen interest in family history. He has provided me with much information, pictures and good advise for which I am grateful. Like myself, Bill is always interested in meeting near or distant relatives for the first time and "swapping" stories. It was great to meet Bill's mother Babe O'Sullivan, and through our discussions, obtain date information concerning her family.

Much of the information relating to the early general history of the area, is taken from a book titled "The Journey" by Ann Breault. The book is a history of Holy Rosary Parish in St. Stephen N.B. and the early years. Ann Breault is a local author and member of provincial parliament for the area.

Marguerite Deem(#138) has been very helpful in providing a number of valuable pictures and relating to me stories of my aunts who moved to Mass. I had a great time and enjoyed meeting her family on my trip to Cape Cod. Her daughter Lori Burridge(#479) provided me with descendant lines of my Aunt Florence(#129).

Aunt Margaret(#128) who lives in Falmouth, identified by name, a number of people from pictures taken in the past. She also knows Rollingdam intimately from having grown up there many years ago.

Ebb Raye(#259) our next door neighbor (in Rollingdam), provided information on the Whibby side of this family tree and other stories of "days on the farm".

Honey DelMonaco(#175) provided some good family tree information for this writing. She also contacted her aunt Mary Stryker(#164) who sent me information for her family and a couple of excellent negatives of very old pictures.

Father Daley was very co-operative in allowing my mother and I to go over old church documents from the Catholic Church in St. Andrews.

On my ski trip to Vermont in February, 1992, I had a short but pleasant visit with Mickie(#120) Konner and her husband Jay. It was interesting discussing family history. Data from a report done by Mickie's mother Peg McCaffrey(#103) and her Aunt Mary Hennessy(#101), was very useful.

I have made important contacts providing family tree data with a number of cousins I have never met before such as my Uncle Raymond's family, Bill, Raymond Jr., and Bobbie. The late Helen Kelly(#168) visited my parents farm a number of years ago and gathered information from the family bible. Subsequently, a write-up was done that was useful in providing me with useful data.

Tom Barter(#555) from New Brunswick, sent me a good deal of information on his grandmother's family (Reta Canavan #157) which helped me complete that part of the family tree.

A number of the "peripheral" stories are based on articles taken from editions of the St. Croix Courier printed in the 1800's.
