Brief History of the Montgomery Family

The relationship between the Montgomerys, the McGowans and the Littles began in 1917 when Glade Cleophus Montgomery married Hosea Linton Little. These were the parents of Pauline (Little) McGowan.
The first known member of this Montgomery family was William Montgomery, Sr. He was reported to have been born in Ireland in 1785 and died in Rollingdam on 1 July 1860. He was first married to Anna Creighton in Ireland where they had three children:

He next married Mary Anne Creighton. Both of his wives had the same last name.  They may have been sisters.  They had ten children:

    Joseph was born on 6 May 1859 and died on 6 Feb 1931. He married Leiola Ellen Simpson.  I will  expand a bit on this family as they are direct ancestors of the McGowan Family.

They had six children:
