Our Travel page

Sigh, I haven't had anything new to write here lately:( I think it will be a while for any more trips for us, with the kids. I'm trying to talk Lyall into going back to Vegas for a small trip, but we'll see how that goes:)

I am a travel buff, I love to see new and exciting places. I’ve been to a few places, the most exotic of which is Costa Rica. It’s an absolutely incredible place to visit. This is a link to lonely planet’s guide to Costa Rica, not a bad site. lonely planet's guide to Costa Rica

official tourism site for Costa RicaT his one is the official tourism site for Costa Rica. It has some great pictures of the place

Costa Rica is an incredible place, very unique in this world. Being there, you forget all about the rest of the world. We were only there for one week, which was not enough time at all. I highly suggest that those who want to visit stay for at least two weeks.

We stayed in the capital city, San Jose, for a few days when we first got there. San Jose is a lot like most major cities. It was nice to see, but we couldn't wait to get into the more primitive areas.

One of the things we did from San Jose, was to go into Iguana Park. This Place is really beautiful. They breed iguanas and Scarlet macaws. The iguanas are often eaten, and we did try it out while there. Lyall had an iguana burger, and I had mine fried. It was interesting to say the least. It didn't taste bad, but I don't think that I could live on it:)

macaws in the
atriumThe Scarlet macaws were beautiful!!! We were able to walk in the aviary, and they would actually follow us around. All of us on the tour were amazed.

After seeing these creatures, we took a long hike through the rain forest. It was about 45 minutes, which feels like much longer in that heat! It was also so humid, that it felt like we were walking through a shower. I think our clothes were never dry in the week that we were there! It was so beautiful and peaceful in the forest. It's hard to describe the beauty

At the end of our hike, came the reason for the trip. We had to climb a ladder to the top of a tree. The ladder was about ten feet high, but the tree was about 100 feet high. We were attatched to a harness, and strapped to a cable, and jump off. We swung through the trees, into another tree. I was terrified!!! Of course, being the only woman, in a group of five men, I had to go. I was so scared, I was in tears, but I did it, and I'm glad. It was a huge rush to do this, and still can't believe that I did. My heart still pounds when I watch the video of me jumping.

This doesn't even begin to show the magnitude of the jump. It was very high, and VERY scary.

After this, we decided that we needed a more relaxing atmosphere. We went to Playa Tambor. What a place! It was first class all the way, and all inclusive. I was in heaven. They had great margaritas, and the food was wonderful. It felt like paradise. We did a lot of relaxing by the beach, and swimming. I also went scuba diving, and visited Curu, Wildlife reserve. I had a great time, and even got to hold a monkey! Lyall decided to golf on that day.

There is just so much to talk about, that it's hard to condense. I won't bore you anymore with it, just say once more that I loved Costa Rica. We both really hope to be able to go back some day. Everything was incredible, and the people were very nice, even though it was hard to find people who speak english. If you are planning a trip, there is no better place to visit than this little bit of paradise.

This is one of the many pools that we had there. This place really is paradise.

This is a recent picture of us in Arizona. We went down to visit my grandpa. It was a lot of fun down there. We rented a convertible (pictured), which was great in the desert:)

This is me a few years ago on a mexican cruise. I'm the one on the left.

This is on our honeymoon in Las Vegas. We saw the coke sign, and couldn't resist the corney picture. I loved Las Vegas, and will definately go back. Next time though, I'm definitely going to see Tom Jones, he's a must down there.
