Battle Report: October 13, 2001
Opponent: Dwarfs
Army Size: 1000 Points
Result: Loss

This was my first full-scale battle, and despite the small size of the armies and a complete absence of terrain on the table, it took close to three hours to fight on account of the amount of time we had to spend referencing the rulebook. If you look at the army list below, you'll see a few glaring newbie mistakes, foremost among which is my illegally sized unit of Orc Arrer Boyz. Whoops!

Given it was my first engagement, it was fortunate that the battle proceeded in a quite straightforward fashion. Not that it went in my favour, as the bulk of my army ended up losing combats and fleeing off the field. I just wasn't lucky with the dice that day.

I came to a number of conclusions as a result of this battle. First, Orc Arrers are a waste of points. They never seem to hit anything, take up too much space on the battlefield, and to top it off the models aren't all that great. I don't think you'll see me using them too much in the future, if I can avoid it. Also, I think it would be better to field my Wolf Riders in two groups of five, one with spears and the other with bows. Given they're only really useful for flank attacks, unit size doesn't matter all that much, plus it makes sense to keep the units as manueverable as possible.
